A 29-year-old Aboriginal woman died on 12 May 2024 in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Litchfield Park Road in the Northern Territory. She was a passenger in a Mazda driven by her brother. The vehicle was travelling at 97–115 km/h in an 80 km/h zone when it drifted off the road; the driver's corrective steering caused an uncontrolled yaw and rollover. The deceased was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected and crushed between the vehicle roof and ground, suffering catastrophic head injuries. The driver had a blood alcohol level of 0.174%. The crash involved three Fatal 5 factors: driver intoxication, excessive speed, and passenger non-use of seatbelt. This was the 21st road death in the Northern Territory in 2024. The driver was charged, convicted, and imprisoned.
