Finding into death of Allan James Anton

Allan Anton, aged 64, died on 24 September 2025 from complications of Alzheimer's dementia at his specialist disability accommodation in Tarneit. He was diagnosed with younger onset dementia in November 2021 following a period of disorientation and confusion, and his cognitive and functional abilities rapidly declined over subsequent years. By 2025, he was largely bedbound and dependent for all activities of daily living, receiving supported independent living services including personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, and mobility support, plus care from his general practitioner, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and behaviour support practitioner. On 24 September, while in bed after lunch, he developed laboured breathing, sweating, and colour changes. His carers immediately called emergency services but he could not be revived. Post-mortem examination showed findings consistent with advanced dementia and patchy pneumonia. This was a natural death from progressive disease.
