Randal Robin Wilder, a 59-year-old man with trisomy 21 and intellectual disability living in supported accommodation, died from aspiration pneumonia on 12 March 2024 after presenting to hospital on 3 March 2024. He was treated with intravenous antibiotics but deteriorated and was transitioned to comfort care. The coroner found that the care received in the period proximate to death was reasonable and appropriate. The death was from natural causes.
