Finding into death of Brian Roy Gallagher

Brian Roy Gallagher, a 72-year-old man with cerebral palsy and intellectual disability living in disability support accommodation, died from coronary artery atherosclerosis. He was noted to be unwell on the day of death with vomiting and appeared exhausted and pale. He deteriorated rapidly upon return to his accommodation and could not be revived despite CPR. Autopsy revealed severe atherosclerosis of two coronary arteries. The death was from natural causes. While this case involved a person in care, there are no identified clinical errors or preventable factors. The key clinical lesson is ensuring regular cardiovascular risk assessment and management in vulnerable populations with multiple comorbidities, particularly those with communication difficulties who may not report symptoms effectively.
