Scott Livermore died as a front passenger in a motor vehicle accident caused by the driver, Maria Waldock, who experienced a seizure while driving. She was advised by her neurologist not to drive until seizure-free for three months, yet continued driving. The coroner examined whether mandatory reporting by medical practitioners would improve road safety. While acknowledging competing interests between public safety and patient privacy, the coroner found existing voluntary reporting mechanisms and the 2009 receipt notification process sufficient.
