Coroner's Finding: Meyer, Glenn Sturley

Glenn Sturley Meyer, aged 45, died from mixed drug toxicity on 22 August 2019. He had chronic pain, PTSD, depression and anxiety managed with oxycodone and diazepam. He also had obesity and probable obstructive sleep apnoea. Post-mortem examination revealed these CNS-depressant medications acted synergistically to suppress respiratory function, particularly oxycodone and diazepam. Obese individuals with sleep apnoea are at greatly increased risk of death from CNS depressants. His GP, pharmacist, and LGH staff managed his complex medical issues appropriately, including a recent hospitalisation for suicidal ideation with a planned benzodiazepine weaning protocol. The coroner found no issues with medical treatment and determined the death was accidental, not suicide.
