Finding into death of Sabri Saljiu

A 67-year-old man with schizophrenia subject to a Non-Custodial Supervision Order died from complications of non-small cell lung carcinoma with multiple comorbidities including ischaemic cardiomyopathy and COPD. He was admitted to a palliative care unit in August 2016 after diagnosis of locally advanced lung cancer deemed unsuitable for surgery. During his final hospitalization, he developed worsening dyspnoea, angina, and anxiety. On the day of death, he received appropriate symptom management including oxycodone, olanzapine, glyceryl trinitrate, morphine, and midazolam. The coroner found his medical care while in custody was reasonable and appropriate, with no prevention issues identified.
