Anthony John Effer, aged 27, died from exsanguination following a high-speed motorcycle crash on 26 July 2004. He was a pillion passenger on a motorcycle that left the road at speed and struck a concrete culvert, causing severe injuries including a ruptured right kidney, renal vessels, and liver damage. The coroner found that both occupants had consumed alcohol. Transport to Maryborough Base Hospital was appropriate, and the standard of medical and nursing care provided was professional, adequate, and appropriate. The death resulted from the mechanism of trauma rather than any failure in clinical management.
