Angela Parragi died from complications of anorexia nervosa at Canberra Hospital while under a Community Care Order. The coroner found no basis that the quality of care, treatment or supervision under the order contributed to her death, and made no adverse findings regarding clinicians or carers. However, the coroner recommended that ACT Health work with NSW Health to improve access to and pathways for specialist inpatient beds for patients with severe eating disorders, highlighting a systemic gap in available specialist mental health inpatient care for this vulnerable population.
