Constantinos Retsas, a 60-year-old man with intellectual disability and autism in residential care, died from acute myocardial infarction due to thrombosis of the left anterior descending coronary artery. He had attended his local doctor the day prior for a chest infection and was prescribed medication. He collapsed in his bedroom and despite immediate CPR and ambulance attendance, could not be revived. The coroner found his management was within normal parameters of reasonable healthcare practice, with no evidence of substandard care contributing to his death.
