Dannyll Ann Goodsell, 33 years old, was murdered by her intimate partner Scott Cameron through multiple incised injuries to the neck causing exsanguination. Ms Goodsell had disclosed to friends that she was scared of Mr Cameron, who was controlling, physically and psychologically abusive, and had previously placed his hands around her throat. Despite friends being aware of or suspecting family violence, no support services were contacted prior to her death. Mr Cameron had a prior criminal history including family violence charges and had presented to mental health services in August 2018 expressing suicidal ideation but was not assessed for perpetration of family violence. The coroner emphasised the need for improved resources for third parties to recognise and respond to family violence, noting that victims often disclose to informal supporters rather than services.
