Finding into death of Timothy John Jeitz

Timothy Jeitz, a 52-year-old NDIS participant living in supported accommodation, died from a right severe middle cerebral artery stroke on 22 January 2023 at Wimmera Base Hospital. He suffered the stroke at home on 18 January and was admitted to hospital where he declined over four days before death. The coroner found no evidence of inadequate clinical management or care by either the supported living provider or hospital staff that caused or contributed to his death. The death was from natural causes. This case highlights the importance of independent scrutiny of deaths in vulnerable populations receiving disability support services, even when natural causes are identified.
