Finding into death of Adam Donald Baker

Adam Donald Baker, a 50-year-old man with Christianson Syndrome (a genetic disorder causing intellectual disability and seizures), died from cerebral haemorrhage of unknown cause while residing in supported disability accommodation in Wangaratta. He was found unresponsive in bed on 19 November 2025 after experiencing a seizure the previous day. Post-mortem CT imaging revealed a left cerebral lobe haemorrhage. A full autopsy was not performed per family preference. The Coroners Prevention Unit reviewed the case and confirmed the haemorrhage was not related to his antiepileptic medications or seizure activity—the death was natural and from a spontaneous cerebral bleed. No preventable factors, clinical errors, or systemic failures were identified. The coroner made no adverse findings regarding his medical care or the support provided by Scope staff.
