Finding into death of Lee Isabell Mills

Lee Isabell Mills, a 52-year-old woman with Down syndrome, chronic renal failure, and requiring permanent catheterisation, developed urosepsis following a urinary tract infection. She presented with back pain, fever, and hypotension on 9 May 2012, was seen by locum doctors at her group home, and was transported to hospital the following morning. She was diagnosed with E. coli urosepsis and acute-on-chronic renal failure, treated with antibiotics and hydration, but her organs failed despite active management. Comfort measures were instituted and she died on 16 May 2013. The coroner found no issues with her care at the group home or hospital, and no preventable factors were identified. The death was from natural causes.
